Lesson 7:Triads (PART 1)

October 28 2022

  • A triad can be defined as a chord that consists of a root, third and fifth (or the first third and fifth degree of a scale)
  • There are 4 types of Triads they are :
  1. Major Triad
  2. Minor Triad
  3. Augmented Triad
  4. Diminished Triad
  • An inversion of a triad means that the notes in the triad are rearranged
  •       if the third is in the bass the triad is first inversion
  •       if the fifth is in the bass the triad is second inversion
  • In a minor scale the 2nd degree is diminished but in a major scale the 7th is dimished

This video was helpful as it gave full definitions of what a triad was as well as visual notes  and examples for me to see and understand better
