Notes:

• For 4th Species notes should be consonant
• In hymns there are 4 parts Soprano alto tenor bass
• Soprano usually carries melody
• In dominant harmony chordal 7th and leading tone  are tendency tones
• the dissonant harmonic intervals of  a dominant
• counterpoint should open with an implied tonic harmony

My Fourth Species VIDEO

• Fourth species is like second species counterpoint, but it starts offset with syncopation
• a syncopation is when notes are shifted offbeat
• Suspensions should be in fourth species 
• In fifth species it is a combination of all the species
• Parts of SUspension: Preparation,Suspension,resolution

Second and Third Species

• In second species there are 2 notes for every 1 note of the Cantus Firmus
• 2nds, 4ths, 7ths, augmented, and diminished are allowed in harmony
• In Second counterpoint it is advised that approach and leave Dissonances by Steps only
• For Third Species Counterpoint dissonances must be on the weak beats of the bar
• Dissonances are to be "sandwiched" or covered  on both sides by consonances
